I shared this tutorial today over at Holy Craft but I want to share it with all of you as well.
How to create pumpkin yarn art.
This is an easy project.
- Pumpkin Image
- Orange and brown yarn
- Colored Cardstock
- Picture Frame
To start, I searched for an image of a pumpkin on Google. Once I found one that I liked I printed it out on a white piece of cardstock.
Trim the picture down. I just wanted a small white border around the pumpkin once done.
I glued it onto a green piece of cardstock for another layer.
I then colored in the pumpkin so you wouldn't see white through the yarn. You could always just print the pumpkin orange but I didn't want to do that.
Then outline the stem with the glue. Place down the yarn.
Fill in the stem with more glue and yarn.
(I found it best to place down the yarn, then cutting it while in place. Place strips of yarn because when you try to keep one continuous piece it doesn't fill in completely.)
Place glue on accent lines.
I used brown yarn for the accents but you can also use a different shade of orange.
Cover all accent lines.
Then outline the whole pumpkin with the orange yarn.
Begin filling in the pumpkin. Again, place down the yarn a row and a time and cut in place.
Start on the outside and work your way across.
I then placed it in a 6x8 picture frame. I also added another layer of brown cardstock.
Perfect little fall accent!
I'll be linking up to some of these parties.
