Tasty Tuesday: Guest Post- Make Your Own Fondant

Today's Tasty Tuesday is a guest post from Marcie from the blog Don't Waste Your Homemaking and she's here sharing a recipe to make your own fondant.

Take it away Marcie!

If you like to decorate cakes or cookies using fondant you need to make it homemade, It's a little time consuming but it's a lot cheaper than purchasing it. I tried many recipes when I first began but this is my favorite!

What you Need:
6 oz. bag mini marshmallows

3 TBSP water
2 lbs. powdered sugar
Wooden Spoon
Mixer {stand up is easier}
Icing Colors {I recommend Wilton}

Step 1

Place your marshmallows into a greased microwaveable dish and add water. Microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. Each 30 seconds stir the marshmallow goo.

Step 2

Once the marshmallows are completely melted place them in your mixer along with your powdered sugar {keep 1/4 of your sugar for later}. Grease your mixer attachments.
Beat until soft dough forms.

Step 3

Once a soft dough forms place the dough on the reserved sugar and knead. Crisco your hands so the dough doesn't stick to your hands. Knead approximately 5 minutes. Sometimes it's easier to break it into smaller pieces instead of just one huge piece.

Once your kneading is done you can color your fondant!
Simply place icing color onto your dough and knead until the color is the way you want.

Keep kneading {this part takes a while} so you can get an even color.

I will definitely have to try making this!
Thanks so much for sharing and guest posting for me Marcie!! :)
Hope on over to Don't Waste Your Homemaking and say hello!
