Spring Plaid Art Tutorial

So you may recall in my Flower Garland post that my center shutter was blank.

I normally put a wreath on it but I just wasn't sure if that is what I wanted this go around.

I was up in my craft room and was staring at all my spools of ribbon (I think I'm a ribbon addict) and decided I should do something with all the bright colors.
So I decided to weave them to make a plaid background.

Here's the how-to:

Supplies:
-Glue Gun
-Ribbon
-Foam core board (cut to the size you like)
-Felt

Cut your ribbon into strips about an inch longer and wider than your board.
Decide on your pattern the placement of your ribbons.

Glue one end of your ribbon onto the back side of the foam board.

Flip the board over and pull each ribbon straight.

Next, weave each long ribbon one by one, over and under the ribbon that is already glued down to create the plaid pattern.
I chose to use all different ribbons but you could always use the same ribbon for both the width and height of the board.

Once you have all the ribbons weaved together, pull the ribbon tight that you glued in the beginning and then place a small amount of glue on the edge of the board. Then flip the board over.
This way when you flip the board, everything should stay in place.
(Trust me... I tried flipping without doing this more than once and had to start completely over!)

Once it's flipped, glue down all the extra ribbon onto the back.

I then had to figure out what I wanted to place on top and thought that I couldn't go wrong with a monogram. So I pulled out some gray felt and cut out an M.

Added a ribbon hanger and then hot glued the M on and done!

I love how it all came out!

Up close shot of the weaving ribbon.

Just what my shutter needed! Something bright and cheery for the spring! :)

Linking up to some of these parties.

Sending out a Call for Guest Bloggers!!

Hi all!!
I'm sending out a Call for Guest Bloggers.

For one event, I am sending out this call a little late but I am still hoping there is someone out there willing to help. Time just got away from me so I am just getting this out.

But I will need 3 guest bloggers for April 6, 7, 8 and 11 (which is next week).
I am off to Creative Estates, YEAH, and so I will need some assistance while I am gone.
I'd love for it to be a new post of yours but since this is a last notice call, I'm fine with a post that is only a few months old on your blog.

I will still have the Catch a Glimpse Party going on Thursday the 7th but I would love a guest post that day as well. And I will probably NOT be doing a Feature Friday post since I will be at the conference and with flying all day Thursday, I won't have time to visit everyone either.

UPDATE: All the spots for April are full but May is still available!

And the next call for Guest Bloggers will be in May.
We will be moving, AGAIN, in May back to VA so I will definitely need some help during the time right before, during, and after our move so I can get everything ready.
I will probably need at least 2 weeks worth of posts, possibly 3. I normally don't post on the weekends so I will keep it that way unless I have a large amount of volunteers.

If you are willing to guest post for me during my move, I will need your post by April 30th.

I would prefer that the post is brand new but if you don't get a chance to create something new, I'm ok with something that you've already posted in the last few weeks.
I understand things get crazy.

It can be something crafty, a recipe, decor, organizational tip, or thrift finds/redos.
As long as it goes with the main theme of A Glimpse Inside it will work!

So if you are interested, PLEASE email me and let me know.
allison.michelena@gmail.com

We will discuss details and then all you would have to do is email me your html code of your post.

Thanks in advance!

I'll be back this evening with a fun tutorial for ya! :)

Tasty Tuesday: Pasta with Pancetta and Philadelphia Cooking Cream

Hey everyone!
So I made this meal last week on a whim and it was pretty good so I thought I would share it with all of you for Tasty Tuesday.

I completely made it up with just some items we already had.
It was a really fast and easy meal as well which is always a good thing!

Pasta with Pancetta and Philadelphia Cooking Cream

Ingredients:

-Pasta noodles of your choice
-Pancetta
-Philadelphia Cooking Cream (I used the garlic flavor)
-onion

Make-it:
-Cook the pancetta and onion in some olive oil or other cooking oil.
-While this is browning, make your pasta as directed.

-Once your pancetta and pasta are cooked, put the pasta in the same pan with the pancetta.
Then take the Philadelphia Cooking cream and put it into the pan and mix.
I would suggest adding a little bit of milk at this point. I didn't do it and the cream was rather thick.

-Serve with some rolls and a salad if you like and done!

Told you fast and easy! :)

ENJOY!!!

I was not asked to endorse Philadelphia Cooking Cream. This is strictly my own opinion.

All Dressed Up

So I thought I'd share some photos from one of the reasons the Feature Friday post didn't go up on time.

On Thursday evening, Travis had a military ball for his Unit so we got all gussied up and off to Louisville we went. The ball was at the historic Brown Hotel downtown and this hotel was gorgeous!

But here are a few pics of our night.

All ready to go! First pic of the night in the car.

All Gussied up!

This is probably the first of only 2 times I wasn't covered up.
I FROZE all night! Our table was right in front of the air conditioner. BRRRR!

We took this after the whole formal dinner and ceremonies were complete and the dancing was beginning.

The gorgeous Brown Hotel's Ballroom.

Trying to actually show off my dress without goosebumps all over. lol

I love my handsome man in uniform, even with his goofy, laughing smile.

We don't get all dressed too often so it was a fun night out.

Here's the Deal...

Travis and I had a military ball last night so I was unable to finish going though all the fabulous links for Feature Friday.

I'm now headed out of town so as soon as I can, I will finish all the links and post today's features!
Hopefully, I will have it up by tonight.

Sorry everyone!

Thanks so much for linking up though! I've made it through half the links and there were many fabulous ideas shared in those so I can't wait to see what else you shared.

Happy Friday everyone!
