I hope you all have enjoyed all of the fabulous bloggers that helped me out during my blogging maternity leave. I want to thank all of them so much for sharing such wonderful ideas while I was away getting the hang of being a mommy of two. It has been an adjustment but we are getting the hang of things.
I've missed you all and I have a few projects I am excited to share with you over the next few days/weeks.
Here is project #1.
I wanted to add a banner over the changing table area we made between the girls' rooms and below the hot air balloons.
After talking with Travis, we decided to use the phrase, "The sky's the limit."
I actually started this project BEFORE Miss S was born but didn't finish it until she was probably a month old and then took even longer to get it on the wall. But it is up now so that is all that matters right?!
Here is how I created it.
It's real easy!
-Scrapbook paper- I bought solid and patterned in the colors I planned on using
-Chip board pennants- found these at Hobby Lobby. I bought two types to mix together.
-Tape or glue
-Any type of embellishment you would like to use.
I wanted the solid paper as my base so I traced my pennants on my different color scrapbook paper.
Then cut them out.
I used my tape roller to apply tape to the chip board but you can also use glue.
Then apply the paper on top.
There were already holes cut in the chip board so I just took a hole punch and lined it up with those holes and punch the paper.
I then traced the pennants once again on the pattern paper and cut them a little smaller so you see the solid paper around the edge as a border.
After lining up my banner and figuring out how they were going to look, I cut out the letters for the phrase in the solid paper.
I used a few different fonts so I figured out which letters would be which color of paper and each color had their own font. Make sense?!
Then it was time to embellish them.
I used my Stickles for glitter, some flowers I already had for scrapbooking, and some small plastic beads used for scrapbooking as well.
Once the embellishing was complete, I strung them together with some really thin ribbon and then added some bows here and there tied to the ribbon.
I hung it up under the hot air balloons using some really small 3M Command Hooks.
I am happy with how it came out and I hope the girl's believe that saying and try to follow their dreams no matter what they are!
