What's in Your Handbag Series: Ginger from Ginger Snap Crafts

Welcome Ginger from Ginger Snap Crafts! Come take a look at what she keeps inside her handbag.

I am so excited to be here with all of you sharing what's in my handbag! I am a wife to one amazing guy & a mom to 5 wild & crazy kiddos! :) Over on my blog you can find tons of easy projects, recipes, ideas, organization tips & more. I'd love to have you over sometime! :)

Before today I thought the only people who wanted to see inside my bag were my kiddos ~ either my little ones looking for gum or my older kiddos looking for money! haha! ;) OK....here we go!

My youngest is 4 so I am officially out of the diaper bag stage! Wahoo! ;) I've had this pink Kaboo bag for a little while, and I just love it! (My hubby thinks it's orange!) Anyways, it's roomy, has a tech pouch for my mini i-pad & has a chevron print inside! I also have this black bag! I kind of go back & forth between the two of them. Let's take a peek inside! ;)

Easy 4 Ingredient Cream Cheese Pie

I LOVE this pie!
It is SO easy and SOOOOO yummy!
It is a pretty much a lighter version of a cheesecake.

We normally make it around the holidays but it is good any time of year or for any occasion.
I made this for Easter this year since I knew my parents were coming to visit and it is one of their favorites as well.

What's in Your Handbag Series: Heather from Our Life in a Click

Welcome Heather from Our Life in a Click showing off what's in her handbag today.

Hi, I'm Heather from Our Life In a Click and I'm so thrilled to be participating in Allison's "What's In Your Handbag?" series!

I do love a good handbag but I usually stick with one for awhile when I find one that I like.  This particular one is from Madewell and I got it for my birthday last year and it's been on my arm for the last 6 months or so.  I love how the leather is getting more distressed the more I use it.  I had been on the look out for the perfect saddle brown bag and this one was IT!

"Slow Down Enjoy Life" Printable Vinyl Plaque

I have wanted to try inkjet vinyl for sometime now and finally decided to jump in and create a project with it.
I bought some inkjet printable vinyl from Expressions Vinyl but haven't done anything with it until now since I wasn't positive what I wanted to use it for but I am thrilled with how this came out.

I was seriously a little nervousto use this, why I have no idea!!
This was so simple and I love that you can print ANYTHING on the vinyl!

Here's the how to:
Supplies:
-Inkjet printable vinyl
-Paint
-Small wooden plaque

I started by cutting down my sheet of vinyl (it came as a 12x12) down to the size of a sheet of paper (8 1/2 x 11). I just used a sheet of computer printer paper as template and used my paper cutter to cut the vinyl.

After deciding what I wanted to print, I made sure to load the vinyl into my printer the proper way to it would print on the vinyl side. Printers are different so just pay attention how your paper loads through the printer when printing.
I printed this free printable that I found on another blog (Here is a link to the printable on Wishing Well Creations.)
The printable came as a 5x7 and I kept it that size so it would fit perfectly into the center of my plaque.

I then trimmed down my vinyl to fit inside the center of my plaque.
I also rounded the corners since the plaque is rounded in the inside portion.

I painted my plaque and let this dry.
I painted the border yellow to pop and then painted the inside white since the vinyl was white and I didn't know if you would be able to see the paint through the vinyl.

I dry fitted the vinyl in the center of the center of the plaque to make sure it fit perfectly.

I started by peeling the vinyl on one end and placed it down.
I slowly pulled it back pressing down as I went so it wouldn't mess up.

Here is a top view of placing the vinyl down.
Press out any air bubbles.

Here is it complete.
Again, make sure to smooth out any air bubbles so you don't see them.

I hung it up in the bottom portion of our fireplace and I love how it came out!

I have no idea why I was so nervous to use it when it is so easy and awesome!!
I have 2 more sheets of it and can't wait to use it again!

Simple Braided Ribbon Garland

I hope that you all had wonderful Easter with your family and friends.

I have another super easy and cheap project for you today.
You caught a glimpse of it on my spring mantle and today I am sharing.

It seriously it so easy and if you know how to braid, then you are good to go because that is the only skill you need for this! :)

Supplies:
-3 spools of ribbon in the colors of your choice.
I used 1/4 in ribbon but you may be able to try the next size up as well.
-Lighter (optional)
-Scissors

I started by burning the ends of my ribbon so it would prevent them from fraying.

Tie the ribbons together in a knot.

I placed something heavy on the ends of the ribbon and then just started braiding.
I did NOT cut my ribbon off the spool before braiding. It was a bit of a pain because I had to periodically untangle all the spools but since I didn't know how much ribbon I would need exactly. I figured I would need to at least double my length if I measured it but wasn't positive so I just kept them on the spools.

Continue braiding until you have the length you desire.
Then just place another knot in the end and burn the edges.

I actually brought mine down to my mantle when I thought I had the correct length. It was still too short so I just continued working on it until I had the proper length.

I love how it turned out!

I wish I had used slightly brighter colors but I am like it!
I like that it isn't traditional garland as well.

My parents came in for a visit and they didn't arrive until Thursday evening so by the time they got all settled and we were chatting, I just didn't have time to write up today's Feature Friday post.

I promise I will get one up though! It may be later today or tomorrow but one will be up showing off some of your awesome ideas that you linked up to this week's Catch a Glimpse party.

In the meantime, go check out the ideas at this week's party and if you haven't yet, join the party by linking up your great ideas!

Happy Friday!

What's in Your Handbag Series: Anna from Directions Not Included

Well hello there! I'm Anna from Directions Not Included.
I'm so excited to be here to share what is inside my handbag.

I love a good handbag. Actually, I'm a recovering handbag-addict. My addiction is under control now and I have two that are currently in rotation. Both of these are Marc Jacobs bags that I scored at ridiculous discounts. The tote-like one is what I use to haul my laptop around for work and the leather one is my weekend/every day bag. Handbags

Watercolored Coffee Filter Flowers

Yesterday, I shared my Spring mantle decor and you saw a glimpse of the watercolored coffee filter flowers I created.
These were a totally random idea. I was sitting in my craft area, trying to figure out what to add/make for the mantle and I wanted to use materials I had on hand and these came to mind.

I was eager to make them and once the first one was complete, I was SO excited with how it turned out!

They are SUPER easy to make as well.
Here is how you can make your own.

Supplies:
-Coffee Filters
-Watercolor Paint (I bought this set for Miss P and borrowed them before she used them.)
-Glue Gun

First, take a coffee filter and flatten it out.

Spring Mantle Decor

I finally decorated my mantle for Spring... nothing like waiting until the week before Easter to do it.
I used all items I had on hand or made items with supplies I had on hand and I love how it came out.

I didn't want to make it too Eastery, especially since it is just the week before Easter, so I only did a few Easter elements and the rest is just spring so I can easily make the entire thing spring.

Here are some closer shots of the different elements.

We have had these frames since we lived in KY. We picked them up at our favorite thrift store in Louisville, Tickled Pink, and I FINALLY just got around to painting them and getting them up on the wall.
I am SO thrilled to finally have them up!!

I added a few decorations to them but nothing major- just a little bunting banner here and there, and then I added two of the coffee filter flowers I created (tutorial to come tomorrow) inside two of the frames.

Easy Vinyl Trash Can Labels

We have two trash cans in our house, one for regular trash and the other is for recyclables.
Even though the cans are two different colors, black for trash, white for recyclables, we always have tell and remind our guests which is which, and we have had to add labels for our guests to make sure items end up in the proper trash can.

I have been wanting to do this for a long time now so I finally got some vinyl from Expressions Vinyl to do it.
This was SUPER easy and fast to do as well and again, these days, I LOVE fast and easy projects.
