Kitchen Island Makeover

You may recall that when I shared our kitchen reveal, I said that our island was slated for a makeover and I am thrilled to say that it is finally complete!

Happy that it is finally complete since we  bought the paint for this project summer of 2013!

Here is a shot of what the island looked like in our kitchen before.
Black island, blonde top, just kinda blended in.

Felt Turkey Advent Calendar

November is just around the corner which is the start of the holiday season.

People normally do fun advent calendars for Halloween and Christmas but what about Thanksgiving?

I made a super easy felt turkey advent calendar just for that!

It is nice and interactive for kids to get excited about Thanksgiving arriving.

Again, it is so easy, and a fast project too. Here is how to make one for yourself.

Supplies:
 -Felt, felt, and more felt.

Witch Hat Fascinator

This post was previously shared at See Vanessa Craft on Oct. 2, 2014.

I shared this project over at See Vanessa Craft for Vanessa's 30 Crafty Days of Halloween and wanted to share it with all of you as well!

It is super cute and easy!
I thought I would make a Fascinator, you know, those small hats or head pieces you see people wear to Royal Weddings and what not in England, and a witch hat turned out to be the perfect fit!

Here is how you can make one for yourself!

Supplies:
-12x12 sheet of black card stock paper
-Embellishments- ribbon, stickers, flowers, pic for creating a wreath, whatever you choose
-Double sided tape or  hot glue gun
-Cutting Machine- I used my Silhouette.
-Alligator Clips
-Thin piece of card board (cereal boxes work great!)

Glamor Witch Hat

I have a question for you... are you a fall decorator that just throws in a few Halloween touches or are you a full blown, crazy, over the top, Halloween decorator?!

I would be the first. I have never been a huge fan of Halloween, even stopped trick or treating when I was pretty young, so I definitely am a fall decorator that just throws in a few Halloween decorations and even then, I make them pretty Halloween and not scary Halloween.

Today, I have a fun Halloween item you can create for a little touch of glamor instead of the scary stuff.

It is so easy to create!
Here is the how-to:

 Supplies:
-Paper Mache witch hat (bought at Michaels)
-Black Acrylic Paint
-Black Glitter Paint (optional)
-Ribbon
-Black Flowers or other Halloweenish flowers (bought at Michaels)
-Other Embellishments
-Hot Glue Gun
-Pumpkin (optional)

How is the weather in your neck of the woods? Is it more fall like yet?
It is finally starting to cool down for us here in CO. Not sure how I feel about it quite yet even though it is almost mid October, I just know the cold weather is not far behind and I am not ready for that!

Anyways, last week's Handmade Hangout party was chopped full of great ideas and here are just a few that caught my attention.

The 11 Month Adventures of Miss S

How is my baby girl already 11 mths old?!
I definitely don't feel like she should be this old. I am planning her first birthday party which just blows my mind! Now I know why people miss their babies and want another one... though that won't be happening! lol

Miss S had a pretty eventful month so here are her adventures recapped.

Her monthly photo shoot is getting fun.
She is so active and isn't too keen on sitting still for good pictures these days but I managed to snag a few.

We have been soaking up that last little bit of warm weather playing outside.
She was super excited to play with the large ball.
