Geometric Vases

I have had these vases for quite some time now. I bought them from the craft department at Target and wasn't really sure what I was going to do with them.

So when it came time for me to finally sit down and craft this past weekend, I knew I needed to finally work on these.
And I love how they came out!

These really weren't hard to create at all.
Here's how I did it.

 -Wooden vases
-Chalk or Acrylic paint
-Scrapbook paper (optional)
-Sand paper or file
-Faux Succulents
-Mod Podge
-Ink pad (optional)

Begin by painting the vase and let dry.

Once the paint is dry, trace the sides of the vase on the BACK of the scrapbook paper then cut out.
I decided I only wanted 4 accent pieces of paper so I traced two long sections and 2 short sections.

If you don't want to use paper, you could easily just use a different color paint for the accents.

Using Mod Podge, glue the paper where you would like the accents to be. Let dry.

After the paper is dry, use a file to rub the extra paper from the edges for a clean look.

See! Just sands it right off!

You could easily stop here if you'd like but I wanted to add a little more to it.

So I got out my little ink sets that I normally would use for scrapbooking and inked the edges of the vase.

I then gave the whole vase a coat of Mod Podge.

I had some round foam discs that I stacked in the center.

Then I pushed these faux succulents from Flora Craft into the foam.

Which was the perfect finishing touch!
Now I have a cute vase with plants that I don't have to water!

I really liked how this one come out with the bright yellow and floral paper accents in contrast to the green succulents.

I created a second one using the same floral paper but painted it with 2 different color paints for a little more accent.
Then placed another faux succulent inside, again from Flora Craft.

I really like how they came out!
They are perfect for indoors or coat them in some outdoor Mod Podge and place them on your porch/patio!

They'd even look great with a real succulents or flowers inside!
Or perhaps faux flowers as well!

The two go together nicely! :)
