{Feature Friday} #101

It is the last day of the month.
Another month gone and we are that much closer to the holidays and 2017.
I'm not sure how that is even really possible but apparently time just keeps on ticking whether we want it to our not.

Just in case you want to get some new ideas to round out the last few months of the year, I have some great ideas for you from last week's Handmade Hangout Party.

Grandparents Day: Long Distance Hug

So grandparents day was technically last week...but at our kids school we won't be celebrating it until October. But in any case I think this fun little gift would be loved and appreciated by grandparents ANY time of the year....Mother's day, Valentine's day...you name it!!

I don't remember where I saw this idea....maybe Family Fun, maybe not.
If you've seen this idea can you point me in the
right direction so I can give the proper credit?

I wanted to make something
fun and thoughtful for grandparents day.
I saw this idea and knew it would be awesome.
Since we don't live very close to my in-laws I thought this was right up our alley, making something meaningful, creative and out of the ordinary.

Here's what I did:
I had the kids lie down on butcher paper and stretch out their arms.
Then I traced around their arms...
and a little bit of their body two times.
I cut their arms out (of the paper).

Craft with Me: Easy Watercolor Pencil Art

September is coming to an end, say whattttt?!, so it is time for another "Craft with Me" series post.

I have a super easy project today that anyone, even kids, can do.

I heard about watercolor pencils and I had to buy them! I actually bought them FOREVER ago and totally forgot about them so I may have bought another box just for this project, oops!, but they are seriously so fun!

You can do so much with them but who wouldn't want to just doodle anything you want and paint it?

I created a little fall pumpkin painting along with some other fun things.

Fall Hydrangea Wreath

I wanted to share the new fall wreath I created for over our mantle.
I had a craft day one weekend and wanted to get a whole bunch of stuff completed but I had to use supplies I already had on hand.

I decided to make a wreath so I searched through all my supplies and this is the wreath I came up with and I totally love how it came out!

This was a pretty easy wreath to make and here is how I did it.

Hello everyone!
Are you ready for the last week of Must Have Craft Tips & More: Fall and Halloween Decorating Tips?
If you have missed the last few weeks, here is Tip 1, Tip 2, and Tip 3.

It's Allison here, back with some tips on how to decorate your home for the holiday season by just shopping your home.

You don't always have to go out and buy a ton of items to decorate for seasonal or holiday decorating. Just shop your home, inside and out, instead!

Walk around your home and you can turn many items into holiday decor.

Free Kitchen Printable & Delicious Smoothie Recipe Ideas

Hi, it's Molly from Just a Little Creativity! I hope everyone is enjoying September. Maybe your weather is beginning to cool off, and hopefully you're family has fallen into a nice back to school routine by now.

If you're kids are like mine, by they time they get home from school they're so hungry! While prepackaged snacks and chips are easy, they're not always the best first choice, right? One of the easiest things I like to have ready for them when they get off the bus are smoothies. You already know how much my little guy likes strawberries from the strawberry watermelon popsicle recipe I shared earlier this summer, so of course including them in smoothies are a hit.

Smoky Cheddar Wasabi Snack Mix

I don't know about the people around you, but almost everyone I know is completely excited about Fall coming up soon. I must admit, I am too...it's always been my favorite season. While I'm excited about scarves and boots and hot cocoa, I'm really excited about Fall cooking and gatherings. However, it doesn't exactly feel like fall yet where we live, so I think the heavy duty fall-like cooking will have to wait for a little while longer.

Meanwhile, I do have this really tasty and very simple snack mix that's perfect for Fall gatherings, whether they are around the television for a football game or in the stands at an event (marching band competitions, if you're like us). It comes together in a snap, it's easy to transport, and the smoky, cheesy flavors with the little kick of heat and crunch from the wasabi peas and nuts really makes this very snackable. If you have little ones or people that simply don't dig the spice, feel free to leave out the wasabi peas and add in a few extra cheese crackers, pretzels, or nuts.

Natural Fall Mantle

The weather is officially fall like here in WI so I decided I would pull out my fall decor this weekend.

I wanted to go a little natural and use some different colors than the normal orange, red, and yellow so I shopped my house, indoor and out, and came up with this set up for our faux mantle, mantle.

After putting things up and taking things back off, rearranging a few times, I LOVE how it turned out.

Let's take a closer look shall we.

Must Have Craft Tip & More: Fall Decor Tips- Reusable Wreath Forms

Welcome to another week of Must Have Craft Tips!
Every week my co-hosts and I gather up our favorite craft tips to share with you!

This week it's my turn (Bev from Flamingo Toes) and I'm sharing one of my favorite holiday Must Have Craft Tips - Using Reusable Wreath Forms! Save Space with Reusable Wreath Forms

While I LOVE decorating for the holidays, and I completely decorate the house for the fall Holidays especially, sometimes storing all these things gets to be a problem. You can only have so many boxes of just wreaths, am I right? Especially if you're like me and don't want to use the same wreaths every year. I like to change things up!

My solution is to use reusable wreath forms!
These wreaths were made with pins - so that the ribbons and decorations can be removed at the end of the holiday!

Kitchen Makeover Reveal

We began our kitchen makeover at the beginning of July.
It was done in phases, mostly because we had to wait for certain things to get complete before we could move on to the next thing, but as of Friday night, our kitchen is complete. YAY!

I am thrilled it is complete!
This is a long, picture heavy post, SORRY, but I wanted to warn you!

This was our kitchen when we moved into our house.
Literally when we moved in- see that giant mess?! lol
Oak cabinets, dark laminate counters, linoleum floors in a faux brown tiles, and yellow, or well mustard walls.
It was all... VERY BROWN and totally lopsided!!
EVERYTHING was on this end of the kitchen and to the left of this photo was nothing at all even though there was room for something.

This area of the kitchen was the only somewhat bright spot with white bead board on the wall where the table sits. I wish the previous owners carried the bead board onto the left side of the kitchen but nope just plain painted yellow walls.

And here is the kitchen now.

Still the oak cabinets and linoleum floor, though I would LOVE to change it, but much brighter and still a big difference. The biggest difference comes to the wall that you don't see.

MHCT&M: Fall & Halloween Decor- Reversible Holiday Decorations

A new month means it's time for a new theme for our Must Have Craft Tips & More series!

If you're new to our series, my friends Bev at Flamingo Toes, Kara at Mine for the Making, Allison at A Glimpse Inside, and myself (Michele at The Scrap Shoppe) take turns each Friday to present a brand new craft tip revolving around a new theme each month. Must Have Craft Tips & More!

It's September and we're officially kicking off the holidays!
We will be focusing on different holidays for the next 3 months and bring you tips to hopefully make them feel a little less daunting.

This month we're focusing on Halloween and fall.

Reversible Holiday Decoration ideas!

I am focusing specifically on reversible holiday decorations.
I don't know about you, but I don't have a ton of extra space to store holiday decorations. And I am a HUGE fan of decorating for ALL of the holidays. So multi-purpose decorations are always a big hit with me.
This is super easy to do with fall and Halloween. Especially if you love pumpkins, like I do!
