"Collecting Sweets" Porch Sign

I have a super last minute Halloween project for you.

Since Travis and I both like to take the girls trick or treating, no one will be home for a little while to hand out candy. I didn't want to just NOT pass anything out so I decided to the the whole, "let's just leave it on the porch" thing.
I plan on passing out candy along with non-candy treats this year so I thought I would make up a little sign to display on our porch as well with the bowls until we return to finish passing out candy.

 This was super easy.
I just free handed the sign but you could always creating it with cut out letters or vinyl if you don't like your penmanship.

Supplies:
-Yard Stick
-Large sturdy board (this was a thin piece of cardboard I had on hand)
-Sharpies or regular markers
-Pencil
-Small piece of paper

Are you ready for October to be over and for there only to be two months left of this year?
I seriously can't believe that the year is almost done and that Christmas will be here before we know it.
I've felt behind all year and that won't be changing any time soon but in the mean time, I will enjoy browsing all your great ideas that have been linked up to all the Handmade Hangout Parties.

Here are a few items that caught my eye from last week's Handmade Hangout Party.

DIY (beginners) Mixed Media Canvas

I have a creative brain...which means I have issues with ideas popping into my head and then ACTUALLY making them a reality. I fully realize that not every idea that pops into ones head needs to become a reality...but for a creative person we kinda think they do!

This project was loosely inspired by a photo my best friend shared on Facebook one day (years ago). When we were getting our three girls bedroom all set up I knew I wanted to make this project come to life...and it has changed a bit from the original idea but I love how it turned out.

It started with a HUGE blank canvas, 20x30 huge! And this wrapped canvas was hung on the girls wall...and neglected. When you run a creative business and have 5 kids and a part time job the things you want to do for YOUR home rarely get done in a timely manner. So this hung in their room for almost a year. And then I had had enough and I needed to get working on it so I wouldn't go crazy!!

MHCT&M: Creating Fall Table Scapes

Hello and Happy Friday!
Welcome to another week of Must Have Craft Tips. Kara from Mine for the Making here to share tips for creating fall tablescapes!

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I thought it would be fun to chat about how to create the perfect table scape without spending too much money or too much time.
If you know me, then you know I'm a busy lady and all about saving a buck, but not sacrificing on the pretty stuff of course.

1. Shop your house.

Check out the decor in other rooms of your house and see if you can find some things that go nicely on your tablescape.
Examples of this are candles, sconces, a throw used as a runner or tablecloth, etc. Most times you will find exactly what you need around your own home.

Thumbprint Trees Kids Can Make for the Fall

Hey everyone!
It's Molly from Just a Little Creativity back again this pretty October to share a fun project the kids love! I've made several of these little thumbprint trees over the years, and they're always fun and unique. In fact, I shared one originally years ago on my blog that my kids and I created on canvas for Mother's Day.

My youngest was a preschooler then, and he enjoyed getting paint on his fingers, and his little thumbprints usually end up smudged, but precious anyway.

And as the kids have gotten older, it's fun to see how much more careful and precise they are with their designs.

Miss P the Preschooler

So nothing like being a month and a half behind on sharing this but time and us traveling got the better of me.

Miss P officially started preschool and she couldn't have been more excited to start school again.
After going in CO and being off for a year, she kept asking when she was going back to school.
WI has free preschool for all 4 yr olds so we waited to put her back in school until this school year.

She started the beginning of September but a few days prior we went to her school to met her teacher, turn in paperwork and get her school pictures taken.

Here is a snapshot of her school pictures.
She started crying when we walked up there because she thought Travis could be in the picture with her so the photographer had to take a few pics of her until we got this one.
Travis had to hold her hand to even get it. You can still see the water in her eye from her tears.

"Annual Broom Rides" Printable

A few years ago I created a fun Halloween sign that is still a favorite of mine to pull out and decorate with.

I thought it would also make a fabulous printable as well so I got to work and whipped one up to share with all of you!

For this printable, I would highly recommend getting it printed at an office supply store since there is so much color in the background. You'll use up all your ink if you print it at home.

MHCT&M: Pumpkin Carving Tips

Welcome to another week of Must Have Craft Tips!

It's Bev from Flamingo Toes here this week with some fun Pumpkin Carving tips!

Every year my family and I have a pumpkin carving competition. It's one of our favorite traditions! We each pick a design and keep it secret from the others. On carving night we clear a huge space on the living room floor, pop in a movie and all carve our pumpkins, but we don't let each other see what we're making. When we're finished, we have a big reveal and light them up! Then we take photos and post them on Facebook so friends and family can vote. The winner gets to choose a restaurant to go out to eat to celebrate! It's so much fun and my favorite part of Halloween.

Man, I have really been slacking on the blog lately and what is sad about it is that I actually have a few things I can post about.
Life hasn't been super crazy but just crazy enough that by the time I have time in the evening to finally work on blog stuff, I just decide to veg out on the sofa and relax instead.

But today I do have some great ideas to share with you that were linked up at last week's Handmade Hangout Party

Perhaps something will catch you eye as well and you can create it over the weekend.

Pastina (Little Pasta)

It’s official…we’ve got the crud. I can aways tell when school is in full swing and we’re getting settled into our groove because about 6 to 8 weeks in, everyone starts falling ill. My youngest came home not feeling so great and within 12 hours I was joining her on the couch for marathons of Netflix, mountains of tissues, and mugs of hot tea.

Usually, a bowl of chicken soup sounds absolutely magical, but I stumbled across a recipe for Pastina or “Little Pasta”, which was described as the Italian Grandmother’s Cure-All. We were definitely in a place where we welcomed anything that sounded like a cure, so we quickly pulled together the ingredients and gave it a try.

YUM! Are we ever glad we gave this recipe a go! It was warm, creamy, cheesy, comforting, and exactly what the doctor ordered. It also uses just one pan, needs NO draining and you can have it on the table in less than 10 minutes. Music to our feverish ears.

Give this recipe a try when you’re looking for something fast and comforting, or when you’re craving something cheesy and delicious. Since it doesn’t have a lot of ingredients, use the best ones you can (I splurged on some Irish grass-fed butter—game changer!). I hope it heals and soothes you as much as it did for us.

Hi everyone!
I apologize for being super quiet this week. We just returned from being out of town for over two weeks so I've been in a bit of a vacation hangover plus it was my birthday on Tuesday so I decided to take a little break.

Anyways, there were lots of awesome ideas shared at last week's Handmade Hangout Party.
Here are some that caught my eye.
